Awards and Achievements during 2013-14

    In recognition of the varied initiatives, the Bank was conferred with the following awards –


  • Global CSR Excellence and Leadership Awards 2014 from CSR World Congress.

  • Best Home Loan Provider Award from Outlook Money for 2013.

  • “Finger Print based Biometric Authorization for CBS” declared as winner for secure IT 2014 award.

  • The Bank’s Desktop Management System project awarded amongst India’s Best -2013 in 33rd SKOCH Summit.

  • NFS Operational Excellence Award 2013 - Special Jury Award 2013 by NPCI in recognition of Bank's excellent performance in Key Parameters in respect of ATMs and switch connected to NFS ATM Network.

  • ‘Vigilance Excellence Award’ instituted by M/s Institute of Public Enterprises, Hyderabad, in commemoration of celebrating the Golden Jubilee Year of the Institute, with a view to promote excellence in the field of Vigilance in all the Central as well as State level Public Sector Enterprises, Nationalized Banks and other Financial Institutions.

  • ‘Corporate Collateral Awards’ under various categories by Public Relations Council of India.

  • Golden Peacock Award for excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility for the year 2013.

  • Greentech Award for excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility for the year 2013.

  • Skoch Renaissance Award 2013, with a Medal and Citation for being India's Best-2013.

  • ‘Jury Award for New Initiatives under MSME’ instituted by Chamber of Indian MSME under Banking Excellence Awards 2013.

  • Best Bank Award for implementation of Rural Self Employment Training Institutes for the second consecutive year by the Ministry of Rural Development, Govt. of India. Award under Category l & Category II for its two of its exclusive RSETIs at Hassan (Karnataka) and Tiruppur (TN) as best performing RSETIs. 5 of the 27 RUDSETIs co-sponsored by the Bank awarded as best performing RUDSETIs

  • ‘Top Performer in New Demat Accounts Opened’ in banking sector by National Securities Depository Ltd., (NSDL) for the year 2013.

  • CANARA BANK BAGS ‘Golden Peacock Global Award for Corporate Social Responsibility’ for the year 2013

  • Golden Peacock Award for Excellence in Corporate Governance 2013.

  • C&MD was conferred Mahatma Gandhi Pravasi Gold Samman Award during the Global Achievers’ Conclave organized by NRI Welfare Society of India at House of Lords, London.

  • • FIPS Excellence Award 2013 under DBT Category for the project- "Direct Benefit Transfer LPG (DBTL) 100% implementation in Waynad District".

  • ‘SKOCH AWARD’ under Corporate Social Responsibility.

  • Unity International Foundation conferred "Outstanding Banker of the Decade" Award

  • GreenTech Life Time Award for “Excellence in Banking”.

  • National Vigilance Excellence Award – 2012 for the second consecutive year from Vigilance Study Circle, Hyderabad under the auspices of the Central Vigilance Commission.

Awards and Achievements during 2011-12

  • Under the implementation of Rajbhasha, the Bank received Indira Gandhi Rajbhasha Puraskar Yojna-2009-10 - Encouragement Prize.

  • NABARD’s Best Performance Award, 2010-11, for SHG Credit Linkage and Best Performing Farmers’ Club Award of NABARD, 2010-11, in Karnataka.

  • The Bank was conferred 5 Awards by the Public Relations Council of India (PRCI), in the following categories

    • Silver Award for Corporate Advertisement - Single Language

    • Bronze Award for Annual Report

    • Bronze Award for Corporate Brochure on CSR activities

Received during 2011-12

  • Canara Bank was awarded coveted skoch award for financial inclusion on 5.01.2012 at New Delhi. The award was handed over by Dr C Rangarajan, Chairman Prime Ministers. Economic Advisory Council to Smt Archana Bhargava Executive Director Canara Bank in a glittering function held at New Delhi. The other dignitaries present on the occasion were Dr D Damodaran Former Chairman SEBI, Dr Govinda Rao, Mr Yogesh Aggarwal Chairman PFRDA. A certificate of merit was handed over to S S Bhat General Manager Financial Inclusion Wing for Canara Banks role in providing Access to Banking and Financial Services. Citation reads as "Canara Bank has a hand in every arena when it comes to promoting financial inclusion through skilling and self employment. During last one year it has shown significant improvement in its financial inclusion efforts. " Canara Bank deems it a great honour and would redouble its efforts for the cause of financially excluded

  • The Bank was conferred with National Award - 2011 for excellence in the field of Khadi and Village Industries - Best Bank, South Zone for PMEGP.

SPECIFIC ACHIEVEMENTS PERTAINING TO RECOVERY WING ARE AS FOLLOWS:

  1. CASH RECOVERY OF Rs.750 CRORE ACHIEVED DURING JUNE 2011 QUARTER WHICH IS ALL TIME HIGH FOR ANY PARTICULAR QUARTER.

  2. ON LINE AUCTION OF SECURED ASSETS INTRODUCED AND IMPLEMENTED UNDER SARFAESI.

    Total No. of Branches / Units risk rated : 3378

    No. of LOW Risk branches:  2009

    % of LOW Risk branches : 59.47 %

    No. of HIGH Risk branches : 1

    Audit / Inspection conducted as per the audit plan and there is no backlog.

    The concurrent audit of 494  branches cover 79 % of advances and 53 % of deposits of the Bank.

  2. Highlights of Priority Sector Performance in last 3 years.

    • Bank has achieved hat-trick by crossing all mandated, SoI and Internal Targets in Priority Credit.

    • Bank has doubled the growth under Agriculture in 2009-10 compared to 2008-09.

    • The Agriculture disbursement in FY 07-08 was Rs.11443 crore while in it in FY 10-11 Rs. 22374Crores, which is almost doubled in a period of 3 years.

    • Education loan stood at Rs.3503 crore, compared to O/s level of Rs.1737 crore for Mar 08 more than doubled in 3 years.

    • Weaker Sections, SC/ST and Minority advances also more than doubled in 3 years.
