The recruitment for the post of
Probationary Clerks shall be on State-wise basis. Candidates can apply for
Probationary Clerk post in ONE STATE ONLY and have to appear for the test,
from a centre allotted for that particular State. On selection, candidates
will be placed any where in that state depending up on Bank’s need and
candidate has to work in the place of posting for a minimum period of 5 years.
Candidates belonging to reserved categories, for which no post has been
announced are free to apply against the Un-Reserved Posts, provided they
fulfill the eligibility criteria mentioned.

Graduate in any discipline, preferably with MBA, and having flair for
marketing the Insurance, Mutual Fund and other products of the Bank.

Variable Pay:
Over and above the threshold limit, he/she will be entitled for variable pay
and the variable pay is equivalent to 15% of the commission received by the
Bank.
The
contract appointees, who fail to achieve performance with a minimum
target-premium of Rs.3.00 lakhs per quarter, consecutively for two quarters,
beginning from the second quarter of their appointment shall cease to continue
as contract appointees of the bank from the last day of the month from the end
of the second quarter under review. However, if any candidate fails to achieve
minimum threshold limit of Rs.3 lakhs in any quarter, Bank reserves right to
break the contract.
e)

The
Annual Leave can be encashed to the extent of 50% every year. Carry over of

ESSENTIAL: 1) First Class / equivalent Grade
with 60% in Graduation and MA (Hindi Language & Literature) with English as a

Candidates should possess adequate knowledge in various legal matters relating
to Banking Laws, Labour Laws, Civil Laws, Tax Laws, Service Matters, Criminal
Laws, Procedural Laws, Information Technology Laws, Company Laws, etc.

2.
DEFINITIONS
A]
Ex-Servicemen [XSM]:
i)
Only those candidates shall be treated as Ex-Servicemen who fulfill the
revised definition as laid down in Government of India, Ministry of Home
Affairs, Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms Notification
No.36034/5/85/Estt.(SCT) dated 27.10.1986 as amended from time to time.
ii)
Disabled Ex-Servicemen (DISXS):
Ex-Servicemen who while serving in Armed Forces of the Union were disabled in
operation against the enemy or in disturbed areas shall be treated as DISXS.
iii)
Dependents of Servicemen killed in Action (DXS):
Servicemen killed in the following operations would be deemed to have been
killed in action attributable to Military Service (a) war (b) war like
operations or border skirmishes either with Pakistan on cease fire line or any
other country (c) fighting against armed hostiles in a counter insurgency
environment viz, Nagaland, Mizoram, etc. (d) fighting of service with
peace-keeping mission abroad (e) laying or clearance of mines including enemy
mines as also mine sweeping operation between one month before and three
months after conclusion of an operation (f) frost-bite during actual
operations or during the period specified by the Government (g) Dealing with
agitating Para Military Forces Personnel (h) Indian Peace Keeping Force
personnel killed during the operations in Sri Lanka.
Note: The Territorial Army Personnel will be treated as ex-servicemen w.e..f.
15.11.1986.

Reservations for Persons with Disabilities:
Reservation is available for Persons with Disabilities under Section-33 of the
Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights & Full
Participation) Act 1995:
Ø
Visually Challenged [VC]:
(i)
Blindness refers to a condition where a
person suffers from any of the following conditions namely (a) Total absence
of sight or (b) Visual acuity not exceeding 6/60 or 20/200 {snellen} in the
better eye with correcting lenses; or (c) limitation of the field of vision
subtending an angle of 20 degree or worse.
(ii)
Low Vision means a person with impairment of
visual functioning even after treatment or standard refractive correction but
who uses or is potentially capable of using vision for the planning or
execution of a task with appropriate assistive device.
Ø
Hearing Impairment [HI]
means loss of 60 decibels or more in the better ear in the conversational
range of frequencies.
Ø
Orthopaedically Challenged [OC]
– All the cases of OC persons are covered under the category of Locomotor
disability or cerebral palsy.
Locomotor Disability
means disability of the bones, joints or muscles leading to substantial
restriction of the movement of the limbs or any forms of cerebral palsy.
Cerebral Palsy
means a group of non-progressive conditions of a person characterized by
abnormal motor control posture resulting from brain insult or injuries
occurring in the pre-natal, peri-natal or infant period of development.
Only such persons would be eligible for reservation in services / posts who
suffer from not less than 40% of relevant disability.
3.
NATIONALITY / CITIZENSHIP:
A
candidate must be either i] a citizen of India or ii] a subject of Nepal or
iii] a subject of Bhutan or iv] a Tibetan refugee who came over to India
before 01.01.1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or v] a
person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East
African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania. Zambia,
Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, & Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling
in India provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv)
or (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility
has been issued by the Government of India. A Candidate in whose case a
certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the
examination/interview conducted by the Bank, but on final selection the offer
of appointment may be given only after the necessary eligibility certificates
issued by the Government of India, are produced.
4.
RELAXATION IN UPPER AGE LIMIT
(i)
Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe candidates - by 5 years;
(ii)
Other Backward Classes candidates - by 3 years;
(iii)
Persons with Disabilities by 10 years;
(iv)
All
persons who are ordinarily domiciled in Kashmir Division of J&K State during
01.01.80 to 31.12.89 - by 5 years;
(v)
For
Probationary Clerks - Widows, divorced women and women judicially separated
from their husbands; who have not remarried – by 9 years
(vi)
Ex-servicemen,
For the post of Probationary Clerks

Forces subject to a maximum of 50 years;
For the posts of

those ECOs / SSCOs who have rendered at least 5 years Military service and
have been released on completion of assignment (including those whose
assignment is due to be completed within the next one year from the last date
of receipt of application) otherwise than by way of dismissal or discharge on
account of misconduct or inefficiency or physical disability attributable to
Military service or on invalidment – by 5 years
NOTE:

The
relaxation in upper age limit to SC/ST/OBC candidates is allowed on cumulative
basis with only one of the remaining categories for which age relaxation is
permitted as mentioned above in Point No. 4 (iii) to 4 (vi)
b]
Persons eligible for age relaxation under 4(iv) above must produce the
domicile certificate at the time of interview from the District Jurisdiction
where he / she had ordinarily resided or any other authority designated in
this regard by the Government of Jammu & Kashmir to the effect that the
candidate had ordinarily domiciled in the Kashmir Division of the State of J&K
during the period from 01.01.80 to 31.12.89.
c]
An
Ex-servicemen who has once joined in a Govt. job on the civil side after
availing the benefits given to him as an Ex-servicemen for his re-employment,
his Ex-servicemen status for the purpose of re-employment in Government
ceases.
Ex-servicemen candidates who have already secured employment under the Central
Govt. in Group C & D will be permitted the benefit of age relaxation as
prescribed for Ex-servicemen for securing another employment in a higher grade
or cadre in Group C/D under the Central Govt. However, such candidates will
not be eligible for the benefits of reservation for Ex-servicemen in Central
Govt. jobs.

selection for post codes 1, 2 & 4 is on the basis of qualifying in the written
test and performance in interview.
The

On Hindi Knowledge |
There will be negative marks for wrong answers in Objective Test. Other
details regarding the test will be given to the candidates in the “Acquaint
Yourself Booklet”, which will be sent along with the call letter for written
examination.
Depending on the number of vacancies, such of those candidates who rank
sufficiently high in the order of merit in the written test as per the cut off
marks decided by the Bank will only be called for interview. Mere admission to
the test / eligibility / pass in the test does not imply that the Bank is
satisfied beyond doubt about the candidates’ eligibility and shall not vest
any right in a candidate for being called for interview.
For the remaining posts [Post Codes-3, 5, 6, 7
& 8]:
The
selection for post codes-3, 5, 6, 7 & 8 will be on the basis of shortlisting
and performance in the interview only.
Merely satisfying the eligibility norms do not entitle the candidate to be
called for interview. The Bank reserves the right to call only the requisite
number of candidates for interview after preliminary screening / short listing
with reference to the candidate’s qualification, experience and suitability
etc.
General [for all the posts]:
The
Bank reserves the right to change the selection procedure, if necessary. The
change, if any, shall be communicated to the candidates in advance.
The
Bank would be free to reject the candidature of any candidate at any stage of
the recruitment process, if he / she is found to be ineligible. If appointed,
such a candidate may be summarily removed and the fees paid by the ineligible
candidates shall be forfeited.
Wherever, written test is held, the final
selection for those posts will be on the basis of performance in written test
and interview. For the remaining posts, the final selection will be on the
basis of performance in interview only.

The Bank intends to provide free
Non-Residential Pre-Recruitment Training [PRT] Programme of six (6) working
days duration to candidates belonging to Schedule Castes / Scheduled Tribes /
Persons With Disabilities / Minority Communities / Ex-Servicemen, who have
applied for the said posts. The tentative dates of training programme are
as follows;

The
training programme will be conducted at Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai,
Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Madurai, Mangalore, Mumbai, Patna, Pune &

The
training will be given only to a limited number of candidates on first come
first serve basis & Bank shall send Training Intimation Letters only to those
candidates. Candidates, who wish to avail this facility, have to indicate
in the On-line Application, the name of the Centre at which he / she wants to
attend the training programme.
All
the expenses for attending the Pre-Recruitment Training Programme at the
concerned centre relating to travel, boarding, lodging etc. should be borne by
the candidate. The Bank has discretion to add / delete / change the PRT Centre
indicated above or allot the candidates to a different centre other than the
one he/she opted.

11.
HOW TO APPLY [for all posts]
The
eligible candidates are required to apply ON-LINE through bank’s website
www.canarabank.com. No other means /
mode of applications will be accepted.
The link for registration of application will
be open on our website on the dates indicated at the top of this advertisement
The
guidelines for filling on-line application are as follows;
Ø
Candidates should have a valid personal e-mail id. In case, candidate is not
having valid e-mail id, he/she should create a new e-mail id. This e-mail id
should be valid for the duration of the project.
Ø
Candidates should have their Demand Draft (DD), particulars of qualification,
experience, training and relatives working in Canara Bank, if any, ready
before applying on-line, as the details are required to be entered in the
on-line application. Please note that without valid DD details, on-line
registration of application will be summarily rejected.
Ø
Demand Draft should be purchased on any date between the website link opening
& closing dates [Check Point No.5 (ii)].
Ø
Demand Draft should be for requisite fee amount [Please check Point No.5.for
the details of the fee] & DD should be in favour of Canara Bank –
Recruitment Project – 2009 payable at Mumbai.

Candidate’s name, Date of Birth, Post Name & Post Code should be written on

recent passport size photograph should be affixed on the application print-out
duly signing across it.

The

CALL LETTERS
All
the communications viz, call letters for test / interview etc., will be sent
to the correspondence address given by the candidate in the application form
by ordinary post only. Request for sending to different addresses
subsequently will not be accepted.

Examination Centre opted, to enable the Bank to take immediate remedial action
for issuing duplicate call letter.

CALL LETTER FOR ATTENDING INTERVIEW [for all

The
candidates who have qualified in the written test & ranked sufficiently high
in case of post codes 1, 2 & 4 / candidates who are shortlisted in case of
post codes 3, 5, 6, 7 & 8 will only be called for the Interview and their
details and Interview Schedule will be made available in Bank’s website
www.canarabank.com. Interview Call
Letters shall be sent by ordinary post to the candidates so qualified.
Alternatively the interview call letter can be downloaded from the Bank’s
website.
Bank will not take responsibility for late receipt / non-receipt of call
letter / any communication to the candidate. Hence candidates are requested to
keep track of their application status by visiting Bank’s website from time to
time during the recruitment process.
13.
ACTION AGAINST CANDIDATES FOUND GUILTY OF MISCONDUCT [for all posts]
Candidates should not furnish any particulars that are false, tampered,
fabricated or suppress any material information while registering the
application and submitting the certified copies / testimonials.
At
the time of written examination/interview, if a candidate is or has been found
guilty of using unfair means during the test/interview; or impersonating or
procuring impersonation by any person; or misbehaving in the examination hall
/ interview hall or taking away the question booklet, answer sheet, from the
examination hall; or resorting to any other irregular or improper means in
connection with his/her candidature for the selection; or obtaining support of
his/her candidature by any means, such a candidate may in addition to
rendering himself/herself liable to criminal prosecution, will be liable
(a)
to
be disqualified from the examination / interview for which he / she is a
candidate
(b)
to
be debarred, either permanently or for a specified period from any examination
or selection held by the Bank.
The
Bank/IBPS would be analyzing the responses of a candidate with other appeared
candidates to detect patterns of similarity. If, as per the laid down
procedure, it is suspected that the responses have been shared and the scores
obtained are not genuine / valid, the Bank reserves the right to cancel his /
her candidature.
14.
GUIDELINES FOR USE OF SCRIBE IN THE WRITTEN TEST [POST CODES – 1, 2 & 4]:
Wherever written examination is held, only those candidates who are blind and
candidates whose writing speed is affected by cerebral palsy can use scribe at
their own cost during the written examination. In all such cases, where a
scribe is used, the following rules will apply:
1)
The
candidate will have to arrange for the scribe at his / her own cost.
2)
The
academic qualification of the scribe should be one grade lower than the
stipulated minimum eligibility criteria.
3)
The
scribe should possess marks less than the candidate but in any case not more
than 60% in his own academic stream. In case of Post Code-4 – Official
Language Officer, the scribe’s academic stream should be different from that
of the candidate’s stream.
4)
The
candidate as well as the scribe will have to give a suitable undertaking
confirming that the scribe fulfils all the stipulated eligibility criteria for
a scribe as mentioned above. Further, in case it later transpires that he/she
did not fulfil any of the laid down eligibility criteria or suppressed any
material facts, the candidature of the applicant will stand cancelled,
irrespective of the result of the written test.
5)
Such candidates who use a scribe shall be eligible for extra time of 20
minutes for every hour of examination.
15.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE POST OF INVESTMENT
OFFICERS [ON CONTRACT] [POST CODE-3]:
a)
Candidates must necessarily be qualified by passing the IRDA Licence
Examination after their provisional selection, at their own cost.
Provisionally selected candidates shall be allowed to join the bank only if
they acquire the IRDA Licence within the period stipulated by the Bank.
b)
Applicable Income Tax shall be deducted as per provisions.
c)
Either party may terminate the agreement by giving one month notice in writing
/ by remitting one month’s fixed compensation amount.
d)
The
Bank will have the right to recover at its discretion, any loss or money due
to the Bank, from the amounts due and payable by the Bank without prejudice to
any other remedies the Bank may adopt for recovering the same.
e)
10%
of the Basic will be deducted as employee’s contribution towards Contributory
Provident Fund and monthly contribution will be provided by the bank over and
above the fixed compensation. The employee’s contribution as well as Bank’s
contribution towards Contributory Provident Fund shall be settled at the time
of cessation.
f)
The
Contract Appointee shall not be eligible for any perquisites whatsoever like
LFC, News Paper, Business Development Expenses, City Compensatory Allowance,
Concession in Rate of Interest on Loans and Advances / Preferential Rate of
Interest to Deposits, Residential Accommodation & Furniture facility, Group
Insurance, Staff Welfare Measures, Telephone, Gratuity, Terminal Benefits,
etc. whatsoever.
g)
Officers recruited under the contract system are not eligible for pension in
any form.
16.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS [FOR ALL POSTS]:
a)
Candidates have to register on-line through Bank’s website only. No other
means of applications are entertained.
b)
Candidates should ensure their eligibility
before applying.
Bank reserves right to reject ineligible candidate’s application at any stage
and the fee paid by ineligible candidates shall be forfeited.
c)
Candidates seeking relaxation in Fee / Age must enclose attested copies of
relevant certificates in support of their claim.
d)
The
Application once made will not be allowed to be withdrawn and the fee once
paid will not be refunded on any account nor would this fee be held in reserve
for future examination / selection.
e)
Applications which are incomplete in any
respect will be rejected and the fee will be forfeited.
f)
Affix a recent passport size photograph on the application and sign it across.
Three copies of the same photo should be retained for future use. Failure to
produce the same photograph at later stage, may lead to disqualification.
Candidates are advised not to change their appearance till the recruitment
process is completed.
g)
The
Bank will not be responsible for any loss of application in transit or for
rejection of candidature for non receipt of application. The application
received after last date will not be entertained.
h)
Candidates will have to appear for the written test and interview at their own
expenses. Bank will not be responsible for injury/ loss etc., of any nature.
However, outstation SC/ST/Persons with Disabilities category candidates called
for interview for Clerks & JMGS-I posts will be paid II class to & fro train
fare or actual expenses incurred, whichever is less, by shortest route on
production of proof of travel. Outstation SC/ST/Persons with Disabilities
category candidates called for interview for MMGS-II & above posts will be
paid I class to & fro train fare or actual expenses incurred, whichever is
less, by shortest route on production of proof of travel.
The
above concession will not be admissible to SC/ST/Persons with Disabilities
category candidates who are already in service in Central /State Government,
Corporations, Public Undertakings/ Local Government, Institutions and
Panchayats etc.
i)
Candidates serving in Government / Public Sector Undertakings (including
Banks) should send their application through proper channel. However, an
advance copy of application (print-out of the on-line application)
along with original DD may be
sent within the stipulated date. They are required to produce a “No
Objection certificate” from their employer at the time of interview, in
the absence of which their candidature will not be considered.
j)
Only candidates willing to serve anywhere in India should apply for the posts
of Probationary Officer & Specialist Officers.
k)
Decision of the Bank in all matters regarding eligibility of the candidate,
the stages at which such scrutiny of eligibility is to be undertaken, the
documents to be produced for the purpose of the conduct of interview,
selection and any other matter relating to recruitment will be final and
binding on the candidate. Further, the Bank reserves right to stall / cancel
the recruitment partially / fully at any stage during the recruitment process
at its discretion, which will be final and binding on the candidate. No
correspondence or personal enquiries shall be entertained by the Bank in this
connection.
l)
Bank may, at its discretion, hold re-examination / re-interview wherever
necessary in respect of a centre / venue / specified post or candidate/s.
m)
Individual application must be accompanied by:
1)
Demand Draft for requisite fee amount.
2)
Secondary School Certificate / School Leaving Certificate or any other
documentary proof of age;
3)
Certificate(s) in support of educational qualifications; Experience
certificate/s from the present as well as the previous employer etc.
4)
Candidates belonging to SC / ST / OBC / Persons with Disabilities categories
should attach an attested copy of certificate issued by competent authority in
the prescribed format as stipulated by
Government of India. In case of candidates belonging to OBC category,
certificate should specifically contain a clause that the candidate does not
belong to creamy layer section excluded from the benefits of reservation for
Other Backward Classes in Civil post & services under Government of India.
OBC Certificate should not be more than one year old as on the last date of
application;

Sub-Divisional Medical Officer in the District and an Orthopedic / Ophthalmic
/ ENT Surgeon.

belonging to these categories are required to produce the certificates
strictly in these formats only.
5)
An
Ex-serviceman candidate has to enclose a copy of the discharge Certificate /
pension payment order and documentary proof of rank last / presently held
(substantive as well as acting).
n)
Appointment of selected candidates is subject to his/her being declared
medically fit as per the requirement of the Bank & receiving satisfactory
report from referees.
o)
Appointment of selected candidates for the posts of Specialist Officers,
Probationary Officers & Probationary Clerks are subject to the Service and
Conduct Rules of the Bank
p)
Any
resultant dispute arising out of this advertisement shall be subject to the
sole jurisdiction of the Courts situated in Bangalore.
q)
Bank / IBPS takes no responsibility to connect any certificate / remittance
sent separately. Bank / IBPS takes no responsibility for any delay in receipt

r)
